TAMPA - The Bulls look to return to their winning ways Wednesday night when Providence pays a visit to the Sun Dome.
USF is determined to snap a six-game losing streak and goes up against an opponent it had a lot of success against last season. The Bulls edged Providence, 81-78, last January at the Tampa Bay Times Forum and posted a 55-48 victory two weeks later in Rhode Island.
Providence (12-11, 4-7) has won two straight and has three players averaging double-digit scoring figures. Junior guard Bryce Cotton leads the Friars with 20.9 points per game followed by junior forward Kadeem Batts (14.3 ppg) and sophomore forward LaDontae Henton (13.2 ppg). Henton scored 33 points in Providence's first game against USF last season.
Junior forward Victor Rudd continues to lead the Bulls with 10.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, but he missed Saturday's 68-40 loss at Villanova because of a groin injury. Rudd is probable for Wednesday night's meeting with Providence, a team he's had solid success in the past. Rudd averaged 10 points and 8.5 rebounds in USF's two wins over the Friars last season.
The Bulls stay at home to host No. 12 Louisville 1 p.m. Sunday at the Sun Dome. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
