TAMPA - The No. 12 Bulls started their USF Tournament run with a walk-off win Friday night.

Kourtney Salvarola's RBI single to right field in the eighth inning gave USF a 1-0 victory over NC State at USF softball stadium.

USF started its winning inning with a sacrifice bunt from Ashli Goff that moved pinch runner Ilaura Reeves over to third. Salvarola stepped to the plate and drove the first pitch she saw into the outfield.

Sara Nevins (2-0) and Lindsey Richardson combined on a four-hitter in the second shutout of the season for the Bulls (4-1). Richardson struck out five and gave up three hits in 4 1/3 innings. Nevins struck out six and gave up a hit in 3 2/3 innings.

Freshman Morgan Litchfield raised her team-leading batting average to .714 with a 2-for-2 performance in the first of two games for USF on Friday night. The Bulls and Coastal Carolina face off at 6:40 p.m.
