Bulls Cruise Past Wake Forest at Home

TAMPA - The Bulls snapped a two-match losing streak by cruising past Wake Forest, 7-0, Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Courts.

Katie Vasenina and Loreto Alonso-Martinez got things rolling in doubles play by posting an 8-1 victory over Kathryn Talbert and Kasey Gardiner. Fanny Fracassi and Paula Montoya clinched the match's first point with an 8-2 win over Karen Forman and Brigita Bercyte.

Alessandra Bonte gave USF its second point with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Catherine Roach. Fracassi and Vasenina won in straight sets to keep things rolling and USF toughed out the rest of its matches to make it a rout.

Danielle Mills held off Gardiner, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) and Alonso-Martinez got past Xue Zhang, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3). Montoya showed her toughness in the longest match of the day when she outlasted Andrea Retolaza Andrade, 6-2, 6-7, (10-5).

The Bulls' home stand continues 11 a.m. Thursday against Miami (Ohio). Admission is free at the USF Varsity Courts.
