TAMPA –The Bulls improve to .500 on the season with a win Sunday at USF Baseball Stadium.

“I’m happy with the win,” said head coach Lelo Prado.

James Ramsay hit a two-run homerun in the sixth inning and USF (10-10) swept FAMU, 11-4, before a crowd of 1,150 at USF Baseball Stadium.

Ramsay hit his third homerun of the season.

The Bulls opened up a five run fourth inning to take a commanding 7-2 lead.  Alex Mendez doubled with two outs to extend his hit streak to 12 games.

Mendez went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run and two RBI’s.

“He’s starting to swing the bat the way we think he’s going to hit,” said Prado. “I’m happy that he’s getting hot at the right time.”

Starting pitcher Nolan Thomas gave up two runs on three hits in four innings of work.  The junior struck out five batters.

“He did a good job and he kept us in the game,” said Prado.

Five pitchers pitched in relief.  They combined for two runs on three hits and three strikeouts in five innings.

“We have to play better Tuesday and I think we will,” said Prado. “We have to build on this.”

The Bulls will play a single game against Bethune-Cookman 6 p.m. Tuesday in Daytona Beach.
