TAMPA – The Bulls stayed perfect in Big East play with a 6-1 victory over Marquette on Saturday afternoon at the USF Varsity Courts.

No. 53 USF is now 5-0 against conference opponents this season after taking care of business early and often against the Golden Eagles.

Katie Vasenina and Loreto Alonso-Martinez set the tone with an 8-1 doubles win before Fanny Fracassi and Paula Montoya clinched the match’s first point with an 8-4 win.

Vasenina, Montoya and Alessandra Bonte took care of their singles opponents in straight sets while a couple of other Bulls showed their toughness in longer battles. Alonso-Martinez outlasted Erin Gebes, 6-1, 5-7, 6-3, and Fracassi finished strong in a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Aina Hernandez Soler.

The Bulls continue conference play with a test against DePaul at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 7 at the USF Varsity Courts. Admission is free.
