Bulls Rally to Finish Third in Big East

TAMPA – The Bulls claimed third place in the Big East by rallying past Marquette, 4-3, in Sunday’s consolation match at Notre Dame.

Third-seeded USF won five of its final six matches of the season and got the job done in comeback fashion against fourth-seeded Marquette in the marathon that lasted 4 hours, 20 minutes.

Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard tied the match up at 1 by beating Gleb Skyler, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1, in the No. 5 singles spot. Ravi Patel got USF rolling with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Cameron Tehrani and Oliver Pramming gave the Bulls a 3-1 lead with his 7-6 (3), 7-5 win over Dan Mamalat.

Marquette won at No. 2 and No. 6 at tie things up at 3 and took a lead in the final match before USF completed the comeback. Federico Sabogal dropped the first set before toughing out a 1-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Logon Collins.
