TAMPA – The Bulls jumped up five spots to No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I poll heading into what was supposed to be a five-game week. But, USF's game with Bethune-Cookman, originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, has been moved to Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m and tonight's game against Stetson has been cancelled due to rain. Tonight's game has yet to be rescheduled.
USF (29-15, 13-2) stayed ahead in the Big East standings by sweeping St. John’s over the weekend. Stetson (21-23) has gone 4-2 since the Bulls defeated the Hatters, 6-2, on Tuesday, April 16 in DeLand.
USF jumps back into Big East play with a three-game series at Notre Dame that starts 5:35 p.m. Friday.
Pardo Makes Big East Weekly Honor Roll
Lawrence Pardo has made the Big East Weekly Honor Roll after providing the Bulls with solid relief in their series sweep of St. John’s over the weekend.
The junior left-hander earned a win and a save in four shutout innings while allowing three hits in two appearances. Pardo struck out three batters in three innings of USF’s 4-3 win in 10 innings Friday night after taking over in the seventh.
The Bulls were in a jam in the ninth inning of Sunday’s 4-2 win when Pardo ended the game by getting Sean O’Hare to ground into a double play.
Pardo is 5-1 with two saves and a 2.02 ERA in 35 innings heading into USF’s home game against Bethune-Cookman 7 p.m. Tuesday.
