TAMPA - The University of South Florida women’s soccer team has officially released its 2013 schedule in preparation for its debut season in the American Athletic Conference.
The Bulls will travel to face FGCU and Mississippi State in exhibition matches before kicking the official season off against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Corbett Stadium on Aug. 23.
USF will have 11 home matches, highlighted by a showdown against Florida on Sept. 15. The Gators finished last season ranked No. 8 in the country and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
Another marquee game will take place on Sept. 27 when the Bulls open conference play against in-state rival UCF, which finished last season ranked No. 20 in the country and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight season. The game will mark the first time the Bulls and Knights have ever faced each other as conference opponents.
The Bulls will have four home games during conference play as they take on Temple, UConn, Memphis and Rutgers. They will travel to face UCF, Louisville, Cincinnati, SMU and Houston to round out conference play.
The longest home stand of the year will be a four-game run from Aug. 30-Sept. 8 as the Bulls host Clemson, Niagara, Middle Tennessee State and North Florida. USF will also take on power conference schools Texas (Big 12) and South Carolina (SEC) to finish up the non-conference portion of their schedule.
The first round of the American Conference Tournament will begin on Oct. 31 with the final four starting on Nov. 8 and a champion being crownded on Nov. 10.
