TAMPA – Jimmy Herget continues to earn high praises for his stellar USF debut.
The right-hander’s storybook season continued Wednesday when he was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team.
The prestigious honor comes two weeks after the Tampa native was named Big East Rookie of the Year and helped the Bulls win their first game of the conference tournament.
Herget assumed the role of USF’s Friday night starter at the beginning of season and finished with a 1.72 ERA that ranked second in the Big East and 25th nationally. The Jefferson High School graduate led USF with a 6-2 record and struck out 60 batters while logging in a team-high 94 innings.
