PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The University of South Florida Men’s Basketball team will be on national television at least 23 times during the 2013-14 season, the American Athletic Conference announced Wednesday along with the full slate of dates for conference play. Overall, the Bulls will be seen nationally on ESPN 16 times over the season, including three non-conference games, while seven games will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
“We’re very excited about the inaugural season of the American Athletic Conference,” said USF head coach Stan Heath. “The round-robin format will create a very competitive league race, with each team playing each other twice, adding to the strength of the conference. The increase in the amount of national television exposure that we will get this season across both the ESPN and CBS platforms will be big for our program moving forward.”
The American Conference schedule consists of 18 games with USF playing each of the teams both at home and on the road. The Bulls will open conference play with Memphis at the Sun Dome on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and conclude league action in Tampa, facing Temple on Saturday, March 8.
USF will be featured on ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPNNews 13 times during conference action, first vs. Memphis (Tuesday, Dec. 31 – ESPN2). The Bulls then have four consecutive games on ESPNU from Jan. 9-Jan. 22 including games at Temple (Thursday, Jan. 9), at SMU (Wednesday, Jan. 15), at home vs. Cincinnati (Saturday, Jan. 18) and Louisville (Wednesday, Jan. 22). Along with facing UConn on the road on Feb. 12 on ESPN/ESPN2, the Bulls will have seven games on ESPN News, which will now be airing games to over 75 million households nationally.
Additionally, the conference released that USF’s non-conference match-ups against Alabama (Saturday, Dec. 7) and Florida Gulf Coast (Tuesday, Dec. 17) will air on ESPNU while the Bulls’ game against Oklahoma State on Nov. 25 in Tampa will be on ESPN News.
USF’s complete television schedule for the 2013-14 season will be announced at a later date and all times and dates are subject to change.
