TAMPA – The Bulls showed their ability to battle back at the end of a very busy first weekend of the season.
Sarah Miller got USF back to even ground with a goal in the 69th minute and the Bulls hung tough the rest of the way in a 1-1 tie with Texas in Austin on Sunday afternoon.
"Texas was a very direct team, so physically that really challenged our team to work together and battle in the air for 110 minutes," head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. "The girls were really consistent and did a great job."
Six different Bulls have scored goals since USF opened its season with a 7-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday night before a record crowd of 1,193 at Corbett Stadium.
Demi Stokes brought her assist total up to two by dishing it out to Miller, who maneuvered around two defenders and keeper Abby Smith for her first goal of the season in the second half. Miller, a junior midfielder, netted the third goal of her career in her 21st consecutive start with the Bulls.
Sophomore keeper Christiane Endler posted eight saves and produced several highlight-reel stops while facing 15 shots in her season debut.
