By TOM ZEBOLD

USF Senior Writer

TAMPA – The Bulls proved they can handle the pressure against top competition Tuesday at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz and Oliver Pramming outlasted a doubles duo from UCLA, while freshman Sasha Gozun rallied past a Tar Heel to finish up his tournament run.

“I thought today was a really good day for our doubles team and Sasha, showing really good mental toughness and fighting against a really good opponents,” assistant coach Brandon Wagner said. “I was really happy with the way all of our guys competed today.”

Gonzalez-Muniz and Pramming started the tournament with a bye and advanced to Wednesday’s third round of qualifying by defeating UCLA’s Dennis Mkrtchian and Clay Thompson, 8-7 (5). Gozun took the final two sets in a 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over North Carolina’s Oystein Steiro.

Gonzalez-Muniz and Pramming face Utah opponents 10 a.m. Wednesday and would play another qualifying match directly after for a chance at getting into the main draw.
