Bulls Perform Well on Day 2 of ITA Regional

TAMPA -- Senior Federico Sabogal led the Bulls to a 5-1outing Saturday at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional in Atlanta, Ga. After earning a spot in the main draw with a win on Friday, Sabogal downed Georgia State’s Albert Cordina Sala in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
“Overall as a team, today was a really good day,” assistant coach Brandon Wagner said.
Juniors Oliver Pramming and Paul Polarczyk also took care of business. Pramming quickly downed UCF’s Chris Barrus 6-2, 6-1, while Polarczyk defeated Georgia Southern's Marco Osorio 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3. Freshman Vadym Kalyuzhnyy and Sasha Gozun rounded out the wins for USF. The Bulls only loss came in a hard fought match by sophomore IIgnacio Gonzalez-Muniz who fell to Miami’s Henrique Tsukamoto 3-6, 6-4 with a 6-10 tiebreaker.
“Today was definitely a step in the right direction with out team unity,” Wagner said. “We saw a lot of young guys stepping up and pulling out wins against quality opponents.”
The Bulls had a strong day in the doubles draw as well, with the fourth-seeded pair of Pramming and Gonzalez-Muniz earned two wins on the day to advance to Sunday’s quarterfinals.
