TAMPA – The USF men’s soccer team opens a three-match home stand this Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m., when in-state rival UCF comes to town.

Although the Bulls and Knights are no strangers on the field, having played each other 29 times, this will be the first-ever meeting between the two as members of the American Athletic Conference.

The Bulls have a good track record against the Knights over the years, posting a 22-3-4 overall record. However, the last three meetings between the schools have been very close with each game being decided by a goal.

USF comes into the match on a four-game unbeaten streak and will be looking to gain some ground in a very close conference race.

In their last match the Bulls were unlucky not to come away with a victory at Rutgers and had to settle for a draw. USF outshot the Scarlet Knights 19-13 including an 11-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Freshman midfielder Lindo Mfeka will look to continue his stellar play after recording his team-leading fifth goal of the year against SIU-Edwardsville last Tuesday night. Mfeka was listed as the 10th best freshman in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com last week in their midseason list of the nation’s top newcomers.

Senior goalkeeper Brentton Muhammad is also playing very well for the Bulls, allowing only three goals in the past four matches, including a shutout against Rutgers on Saturday night. He was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the second straight week for is efforts.

UCF also comes into the match unbeaten in their last three contests, recording wins over Memphis and Georgia State, and a scoreless draw with SMU in their last game.

The Knights are led by sophomore forward Romario Williams, who leads the American with seven goals and is tied for first in the conference with 16 points.

Make sure to come out and support the Bulls as the regular season winds down and they make a run at their seventh straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Purchase tickets HERE.
