SKILLMAN, N.J., JAN. 7, 2014 – The USF men’s tennis team comes in at No. 70 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason poll announced by the organization.
Virginia begins the year as the top ranked squad after winning the national championship a year ago. UCLA, Georgia, USC and Ohio State round out the top five.
USF is one of three teams from The American Athletic Conference to be ranked in the preseason poll. Memphis is the highest ranked squad from The American coming in at No. 21 while Louisville sits at 48 to begin the season.
In total, USF will face off against 17 ranked opponents in the preseason poll.
The Bulls have a trio of players who are also ranked individually as Sasha Gozun is ranked 100th out of 125 players in singles while the pair of Oliver Pramming and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz are ranked 16th in doubles out of 60 tandems. The Pramming/Gonzalez-Muniz duo is the second highest ranked pair in The American behind Joe Salisbury and David O’Hare of Memphis who open the year ranked third.
USF opens the season on Friday, January 17 when they compete in the Illini Open in Ft. Myers.
