Bulls Defeat No. 60 Miami In First True Road Test

CORAL GABLES, FEB. 9, 2014-- The Bulls picked up their fifth straight victory in an impressive 5-2 fashion over the 60th-ranked University of Miami Hurricanes on Sunday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables.

USF stands at a perfect 5-0 on the year while the Hurricanes fall to 3-3 after dropping their second straight match.

The day once again started out strong in doubles, with the Bulls quickly taking the first two matches to take the point. The 16th-ranked team of Oliver Pramming and Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz picked up the first victory, defeating Henrique Tsukamoto and William Albanese 6-0. Roberto Cid and Sasha Gozun clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Gabriel Flores and Diego Soto at second doubles.

USF would then pick up four of six singles matches to finish off the Hurricanes. Roberto Cid moved up to the number one spot and closed out an undefeated weekend, beating Gabriel Flores 6-3, 4-6, 6-2. No.100 Sasha Gozun played a tough match fighting through tiebreakers in the final two sets after dropping the first set to beat William Albanese, 3-6, 6-5 (7-4), 6-5 (7-4). Oliver Pramming picked up the third win for the Bulls, defeating Omar Aly 6-5 (7-4), 3-6, 6-1 at second singles. Vadym Kalyuzhnyy got the last win in the only two set victory for the Bulls, besting Bernard Tefel 6-1, 6-4 in the fifth spot.

"Overall the match was really good. The guys showed their toughness and maturity once again," Head Coach Matt Hill said. "The team is really enjoying the big moments and playing them with a lot of intelligence, which is exciting for our future. I couldn't be happier for the guys to come out of this weekend on the road 2-0."

The Bulls will now have a 12 day break before travelling to Columbia, S.C. for matches against No. 43 San Diego and No. 26 South Carolina on Feb. 21 and 22.
