TAMPA, FEB. 19, 2014 – The USF men’s tennis team is off to a great start in the young season and are starting to be recognized for their efforts. The Bulls moved all the way up to No. 56 in the latest ITA National Rankings after not being ranked in the previous poll.
USF is currently 5-0 having already defeated a pair of ranked teams in Texas Tech and Miami. The Bulls also competed in the Illini Open in which they played individual singles and doubles matches without a team score against Florida and Illinois, the No. 13 and 14 teams, respectively, in this week’s poll. During the Open, the Bulls picked up three wins over ranked opponents.
Ohio State moved up to the No. 1 spot in the poll after winning the 2014 National Indoor Championship. USC, Virginia, UCLA and Oklahoma round out the top five. Memphis (No. 22), Houston (No. 48) and UCF (No. 64) are also in the poll from the American Athletic Conference.
The Bulls return to the court on Friday, February 21 when it travels to Columbia, S.C. to take on No. 31 South Carolina. They will also face-off with No. 44 San Diego over the weekend.
