TAMPA, FEB. 21, 2014--The Bulls were handed their first loss of the dual match season on Friday in Columbia, South Carolina, losing to the 31st ranked University of South Carolina Gamecocks, 6-to-1 at the Carolina Tennis Center.
The Bulls won two of their nine matches, and both of them involved No. 64 Roberto Cid. Cid and doubles partner Sasha Gozun improved to a perfect 6-0 on the season in doubles, defeating the 39th-ranked team of Tsvetan Mihov and Thiago Pinheiro 8-4. In singles, Cid also remained perfect, winning his sixth match of the season against Pinheiro, 6-2, 6-4.
"Today was a wake up call and a great learning experience for our guys," Head Coach Matt Hill said. "We are excited to see how they respond tomorrow."
The Bulls will remain in Columbia, S.C. as they look to bounce back against San Diego in a neutral site contest on Saturday. Play will begin at 1:30 p.m. with doubles, and singles will follow immediately after.
