TAMPA, MARCH 18, 2014 –
Both USF tennis teams made double-digit jumps in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll this week as the men moved up to No. 29 while the women now sit at No. 41.

The men made the biggest jump going from No. 47 in last week’s poll all the way up to No. 29 after facing off with three ranked opponents last week.  USF started the week off by taking down No. 27 Penn State, 4-3 on Tuesday before squaring off with No. 6 Illinois and No. 42 Pepperdine over the weekend.  The Bulls dropped a 4-1 decision to Illinois before rebounding the next day with a 4-2 win over the Waves.

They are next in action tomorrow, March 19, welcoming No. 58 Wisconsin to the USF Varsity Courts.  The match is set to get underway at 10:00 a.m.

On the women’s side, the Bulls have won 10 straight matches, its longest winning streak since the 2008 season when they rattled off 11 in a row.  USF took down a pair of American Athletic Conference foes in SMU, 6-1 and then No. 43, Memphis 5-2 last week.  During that stretch, Loreto Alonso-Martinez has won all 10 matches including jumping up to the No. 1 spot in the lineup for the last nine.

The women have an extended break next returning to the courts on April 4 when they host VCU at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
