TAMPA, APRIL 1, 2014 – Roberto Cid was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week it was announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Cid continued his impressive season winning both singles and doubles matches last week.  In the first match of the week versus No. 70 Brown, Cid partnered with Sasha Gozun and made quick work of their opponents winning 8-3.  Later in the day in singles, he coasted to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Justin To.

A day later, Cid and Gozun took down Francesc Aulina and Jesse Flores of American Athletic Conference rival and 60th ranked UCF 8-4.  Cid later won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 over Aulina in singles action.

Cid is currently ranked No. 53 in singles while ranking No. 33 in doubles with partner Gozun.  So far this season, he boasts a 16-3 singles record and stands at 14-4 in doubles action.

It is also the third time this year Cid has been named the conference Player of the Week.

As a team, USF (13-4) moved up six spots to No. 25 in the ITA rankings this afternoon.  They hit the road for a two-match road swing through the Midwest taking on No. 7 Baylor on Wednesday before squaring off with No. 39 Tulsa on Friday.
