TAMPA (April 4, 2014) – No. 25 USF rebounded from a tough loss earlier in the week by handily defeating No. 39 Tulsa 6-1 Friday night at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
The Bulls started the match off on a high note by taking the doubles point as No. 1 and No. 3 doubles won for USF. The 33rd-ranked duo of Roberto Cid and Sasha Gozun took down the 22nd-ranked pair of Clifford Marsland Dylan McCloskey 8-5. The doubles point came down to third doubles as Vadym Kalyuzhnyy and Finn Meinecke won a hard fought tiebreaker 8-7 (7-5) over Daniel Santos and Carlos Bautista.
USF quickly wrapped up the match winning three of the first four singles matches decided. Ignacio Gonzalez-Muniz won the first match 6-1, 6-4 followed by Federico Sabogal’s 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) decision at sixth singles. No. 53 Cid clinched the match for the Bulls taking besting No. 84 Marsland 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 6-2.
Kalyuzhnyy earned the fourth singles win for USF claiming a 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 victory at fourth singles. Oliver Pramming also took down a ranked foe at second singles 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 over No. 63 Japie De Klerk.
The Bulls will have a week off before they return to the courts as they travel to Murfreesboro, TN to take on Middle Tennessee State at Buck Bouldin Tennis center.
