Athens, Ga, May 21, 2014 – No. 71 Loreto Alonso-Martinez put up a fight in her first round match with No. 60 Guiliana Olmos of USC at the NCAA Singles Championship but eventually fell at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens.

For Alonso-Martinez, it was her first-ever appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship as she earned the American Athletic Conference’s automatic bid by being named the Most Outstanding Player of the Conference Championship.  The senior fell in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to Olmos, who won the Pac-12 singles championship in late April.

The senior caps off her season with an 18-7 record which included a 15 match winning streak.

Alonso-Martinez intends to continue her playing career at the professional level after graduating with honors in Physical Education/Exercise Science.
