Jozwiak Nominated for AFCA Good Works Team

July 15, 2014

TAMPA, JULY 15, 2014 – Junior offensive lineman Thor Jozwiak was named a candidate for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on Tuesday, one of the most coveted and prestigious off-the-field honors in college football.

The award recognizes players whose charitable involvement and community service contributions stand out among all other student-athletes participating in the sport. Jozwiak, a native of Eagle Lake, Fla., was one of a record-breaking 182 nominees from across the country who represent the sport’s finest in the areas of volunteerism and leadership among their peers.

Comprised of 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA, the final roster of 22 award recipients will be unveiled in September.

Along with blocking sack-hungry defensive players on gameday, Jozwiak has been a service to the Tampa community in many ways. He has spoken to the Trinity School for Children about the importance of education, visited ill kids at the Shriner’s and St. Pete Children’s Hospital and also visited with veterans who were injured in combat at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Jozwiak is a current member of the USF Football Unity Council, the Lee Roy Selmon Enhancing U program and he represents football on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Jozwiak missed all of the 2013 season with a heart condition, but has recovered and is ready for the 2014 season and the season opener on Aug. 30 against Western Carolina.

The Bulls return 16 starters (10 offense, 4 defense, 2 specialists) for coach Willie Taggart’s second season at the helm, which kicks off on Aug. 30 vs. Western Carolina at Raymond James Stadium. The Bulls 2014 non-conference schedule features home clashes vs. Big Ten foe Maryland (Sept. 6) and ACC opponent N.C. State (Sept. 13) as well as a road game at perennial Big Ten power Wisconsin (Sept. 27). USF will welcome UConn (Fri., Sept. 19), East Carolina (Sat., Oct. 11), Houston (Sat., Nov. 1) and UCF (Fri., Nov. 28) to Raymond James in American Athletic Conference action.

USF football single game tickets, mini-plans and season tickets are now available on-line at, by calling 1-800-GoBulls, or in person at the Sun Dome Gate A Ticket Office. Season Ticket Members may renew their tickets on-line today.
