Two-time finalist honored with Outstanding Program Series award

TAMPA, JUNE 14, 2017 – #BAYMADE: Inside USF Football, the University of South Florida football program's weekly television show, was selected as the winner of Outstanding Program Series award among more than 100 national entries at the 2017 SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards in Atlanta.

The SVG (Sports Video Group) Sports Video Summit gathered leaders in the field of sports video production and leading technology companies from across the country at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta.  The three-day event also honored outstanding productions from across collegiate athletics. #BAYMADE was selected the outstanding program series among shows produced by regional, local networks, syndicators and production companies. It was the USF program's first national award after twice being named a finalist in the category.

“The USF football show is great example of one of the many exciting things we are doing to enhance and build the USF Athletics brand and connect with future student-athletes, alumni and fans,” said USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan. “The show has resonated with Bulls fans and we are proud that it has been recognized nationally for its outstanding production.”

#BAYMADE: Inside USF, which debuted in 2014, is shot and edited by the Emmy Award winning team of Awesome Films and executive produced by Brian Siegrist, USF associate athletic director for communications. The show aired 13 episodes during the Bulls' program record 11-win 2016 season as well as a Spring Special, which aired throughout the month of May.

#BAYMADE was selected the national winner among finalists from BYUtv (After Further Review), FOX Sports South (Driven), 4th Floor Creative (Musketeer Moments), University of North Texas (Beyond the Green: North Texas Football 2016) and another Awesome Films production (Penn State Hockey Story).

The 30-minute program takes fans up-close inside the USF program with NFL Films style camera work, exceptional storytelling, and unprecedented access to practice, locker room, game day and daily life. Compelling video, narration and sound from the Bulls themselves will give viewers a taste of what it is like to be in the huddle and on the field with the Bulls. The show airs weekly during the season on FOX Sports Sun (CH 31 & 1148 on Spectrum; CH 76 & 576 on Verizon FiOS; DirecTV (653 & 656) and Dish Network (422 & 372)). Check local listings for show times.

Every episode is also posted to the USF Athletics YouTube channel.

SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards

The awards recognize the best in college sports video production from national networks, regional networks and conference digital networks, collegiate athletic departments, and students. The CSMAs aim to celebrate those who have pushed the envelope and set a higher standard for the quality of live and pre-/post-produced college sports video content.

USF finished the 2016 season ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press poll with a school record 11 wins following the program's fifth-ever bowl victory in the Birmingham Bowl. The Bulls' 11-2 record marked the fifth-best winning percentage in FBS football in 2016 and one of just 11 teams to reach 11 wins. USF set nearly 40 team and individual records in 2016, including team records for total yards (6,650), rushing yards (3,714), touchdowns (77) and scoring (569). Junior quarterback Quinton Flowers was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Year and led a school-record 10 players named to the all-conference team, six of which, including Flowers, will return in 2017.
