Complete USF Invitational Results

TAMPA
- The University of South Florida men’s tennis team closed out the 2009 USF Winter Invitational in a similar fashion by which it opened the three day event by dominating visiting Florida A&M Sunday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.  In twelve combined matches, singles and doubles, the Bulls did not drop a set to the Rattlers.

The Bulls started off the afternoon in a conving manner as four USF doubles pairing swept the opposition. The No. 15 duo of sophomore Lucas Jovita and junior doubles specialist Thomas Estrada would handle Artioim Podganii and Simbar Happy, 8-2 in Flight A.

In Flight B, sophomore No. 58 Romain Deridder and freshman Wael Kilani disposed of David Jackson and Paul Paige, 8-3 and in Flight C, senior Mahmoud Hamed and sophomore Arzhang Derakshani  beat the team of Joshua Cameron and Michael Moore, 8-3.                .

In Flight D, sophomore Jamal Adderley and freshman Yannick Yoshizawa did not drop a point in thier 8-0 sweep   of Marc Atkinson and Forrest Jenkins.

In singles actions, Jovita, improved to 2-0 on the weekend, by grinding out a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Podganii. Also in flight A, Deridder outdueled Moore6-2, 7-6(7-3).

In flight B, Hamed dropped Happy in straight sets, 6-2, 7-5 while Kilani took care of Paul Paige, 6-2, 6-0.

In Flight C, Adderley beat Joshua Cameron easily, 6-2, 6-0 and Yannick Yoshizawa took care Jenkins, 6-1, 6-1 and Arzhang Derakshani rounded out the day with a 6-1, 4-0(ret).

The Bulls will now be off until Jan. 19 when they welcome No. 11 Florida State to the USF Varsity Tennis Courts for the first duel match of the season. The match will begin at Noon.
