Leavitt Runs a 5.72 Coach Leavitt guaranteed he would run the 40-yard dash in under six seconds.
He predicted he would run a 5.9 second 40-yard dash.
Then he came out on Thursday afternoon and blew the doors off with a 5.72 on a digital timing system at the USF practice fields. The sprint was all in good fun and a little competition with Bulls students.
Leavitt's time is the standard for students that tried out for the USF Student Combine. All students that beat Coach Leavitt will receive a free t-shirt emblazoned with "I'm Faster Than Leavitt."
Four finalists will compete in the 40-yard dash, shuttle run, 3-cone drill and broad jump on the field at Raymond James Stadium Saturday night during the Spring Game.
Coach Leavitt's Television Schedule Head coach Jim Leavitt will be on television plenty over the next three days. On Friday he will be on ESPN2's First Take at approximatly 11:30 a.m. Eastern with former Tampa TV man Jay Crawford. The show reairs from Noon-2 p.m. Eastern in case you miss it live.
On Saturday he'll be working the sidelines during the Spring Game, although he won't be coaching as actively as usual. The assistants run the show during the Spring Game. At halftime, Bright House Sports Network will interview him.
Sunday night, CJL will be in studio with local sportscaster Al Keck on ABC-WFTS. Leavitt is scheduled to go live at 11:30 p.m.

The Select-A-Seat program allows prospective ticket holders a chance to plop down in the available seats and get a first-hand view of where they could be located throughout the USF football season.
All available ticked seats will be marked and available for sale on-site.
Fans that are interested should arrive at Raymond James at 5 p.m. and come to Gate C or they call 1-800-GoBulls (during standard business hours) to arrange an appointment with the Ticket Sales staff.
