For the second time in USF head coach Ken Eriksen's tenure with the Bulls, the USF softball coaching staff received the NFCA Mideast Region Staff of the Year award.
Eriksen, along with assistant coaches Monica Triner and Stacey Heintz, volunteer coach Carmela Liwag and graduate assistant coach Kelly Confer were recognized after leading the Bulls to their first-ever trip to the Women's College World Series.
The Bulls defeated UCF, FGCU and Florida in the Gainesville Regional, and topped Hofstra in three games in the Tampa Super Regional before losing to Oklahoma and LSU in the WCWS.
The 2012 Bulls' team set school records for attendance, best start, best conference start and longest winning streak en route to earning the right to host the Super Regional round against Hofstra. USF finished off the season with a 50-14 overall record, going 17-5 in the Big East.
