TAMPA - USF's season will continue at the Intercollegiate Sailing Women's National Championships thanks to a win on the water this past weekend in South Carolina.
Seniors Rachael Silverstein and Stephanie Reynolds placed second in the B Division at the SAISA Conference Women's Championships, while Abby Featherstone and Hillary Noble placed second in the A Division in the event hosted by Clemson University. The Bulls took first place overall and finished ahead of Eckerd, College of Charleston, Miami and Clemson.
"It indicates how well-balanced our team has become," head coach Allison Jolly said. "Earlier this season if one division was struggling, the other came through in the clutch. In this case, though, they both did exactly what was needed to get the job done."
Jolly is truly pleased with how her team has grown throughout the season with a trio of seniors providing leadership in the starting lineup.
"So much of sailing is mental concentration and focus," she said. "This weekend they proved that they have conquered all of their previous doubts about their ability."
Nationals begin May 29 and Jolly said USF's goal is a top-10 finish in Austin, Texas.
