Bulls Ready to Get Rolling Tuesday Night

By TOM ZEBOLD

USF Senior Writer

The Bulls have made tons of progress this preseason and will get a chance to see how far they've come during Tuesday's 8:10 p.m. exhibition test against Jacksonville at Corbett Soccer Stadium.

"We're excited for this to get going," head coach George Kiefer said. "We've been doing double sessions for a week now and to play somebody in a different uniform is going to be fun for them."

USF's roster is filled with talented newcomers, but fans should expect to see a lot of familiar faces that helped the Bulls win the Big East Red Division regular season title and reach the Elite Eight last seasons. Two veterans that have really stood out at this point in camp have been seniors Ashani Fairclough and Brenton Griffiths.

"They're way further ahead right now in preseason than they were a year ago," Kiefer said. "I think we have two of the best center backs in the country that play right next to each other. That's very good for us."

Fans will have plenty of chances to see what the Bulls' new faces can do on Tuesday as well.

"We want to look at a lot of different combinations of players, make sure we don't overuse guys and make sure we get some questions answered," Kiefer said. "This is a good first test for us and we're looking forward to the game."

USF has one more preseason home game Saturday against the University of Tampa before it kicks off the regular season at Corbett Soccer Stadium on Friday, Aug. 24 against Michigan in a game that will be broadcast nationally on Fox Soccer Channel.
