TAMPA- Head coach Claire Lessinger and the University of South Florida volleyball team released their 2011 schedule on Thursday which includes 13 home matches throughout the season.
The Bulls, coming off their fifth consecutive BIG EAST Tournament, will play a total of 28 matches including 13 at home.
"We are excited about the 2011 schedule,” Lessinger said. “As always, we are looking to challenge ourselves outside of our conference season with good RPI teams. Getting the opportunity to play at New Mexico and Wisconsin will be an awesome experience for this squad, and our home schedule is equally as exciting as we always look forward to our home environment.”
The Bulls will square off against three NCAA Tournament and four top-50 RPI teams teams from a year ago including two from within the BIG EAST in Louisville and Cincinnati, both of which will take place at home.
After beginning the season at the New Mexico Invite against New Mexico and New Mexico State, the Bulls will return home to host the USF Volleyball invitational where USF will face Eastern Kentucky, Maryland Eastern Shore, Bowling Green and Bethune-Cookman.
“We rounded out the schedule with a number of in-state rivals which are always important to play, and our 2011 schedule has a lot of diverse opportunity,” Lessinger said.
The Bulls round out their tournament play at the UCF Invitational and the Wisconsin InnTower Challenge before heading to BIG EAST Play.
In conference, USF will make trips to Syracuse, Marquette, DePaul, Notre Dame, West Virginia and Pittsburgh, and will welcome in Rutgers, Seton Hall, Connecticut, St. John’s, Louisville, Cincinnati, Villanova and Georgetown.
The Bulls will also play a non-conference game against Florida Gulf Coast in the middle of their conference slate on October 12.
The 2011 BIG EAST Conference Tournament will be held at Marquette from November 18-20, and the Bulls will face Florida A&M following that on Nov. 23.
