"What an honor it is to be recognized by our community," said USF head coach Stan Heath. "Our community was such a huge part of our success this year, especially with us playing the majority of our home games downtown at the Tampa Bay Times Forum. We're so thankful to be honored with this proclamation and can't wait to get back on the court to show you guys what we can do next season."
The Bulls are coming off of their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 20 years as they advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA Championship and recorded a school-record tying 22 wins. They finished tied for fourth in the Big East Conference with a 12-6 mark and made it to the quarterfinals of the league's annual championship. In addition, Heath was named the 2011-12 Big East Men's Basketball Coach of the Year, as selected by the other league coaches.
The future is bright for USF as it returns four of its five leading scorers from the 2011-12 season while bringing in a top 15 nationally ranked recruiting class for 2012-13.
