At Bartow HS: The 96th player on ESPN’s top 100 was rated the No. 23 power forward nationally, but Perry has the ability to also play center. Also recruited by UCF, Miami and Temple, Perry averaged 16.7 points and 9.8 rebounds as a senior and helped lead Bartow to a 27-4 record and a spot in the Class 7A state semifinals, where they lost to Pompano Beach Blanche Ely. As a junior, Perry averaged 13.3 points and 11.5 rebounds as a junior at Bartow. As a freshman, he was on the junior varsity when Bartow won the Class 5A state title in 2010.
