TAMPA (May 29, 2014) - The first domino in a series of scheduling announcements fell Thursday for the University of South Florida women's basketball team, as the American Athletic Conference announced its 2014-15 home and away pairings.
In an 11-team conference that gains Tulsa, Tulane and East Carolina this season, the Bulls will play eight teams a two-game, home-and-home series, while seeing two teams (Houston and Tulsa) just once to complete the 18-game conference schedule.
USF will return to Houston during the 2014-15 season, but will not make a trip to Tulsa, as the Bulls host the Golden Hurricane in the teams' first-ever meeting.
USF swept meetings with SMU, Memphis, UCF, Cincinnati and Temple during a 23-13 campaign last year, and will have a chance to repeat with all five, in addition to playing two games apiece against National Champion UConn and newcomers Tulane and East Carolina. East Carolina finished the 2013-14 season ranked in the top 100 in RPI, making the Pirates an intriguing team to watch entering conference play.
The Bulls finished third in The American in 2013-14, behind No. 1 UConn and a departing Louisville squad. Coached by Jose Fernandez, USF reached the WNIT Final Four, making a postseason appearance for the 10th time in 11 years.
