TAMPA – The USF women’s soccer team posted its third straight shutout to cap off a perfect weekend on Sunday night at Corbett Stadium.
A ninth minute goal from senior forward Sharla Passariello was all the Bulls (4-0-2) would need to win their third straight match and remain undefeated on the year.
Again USF was led by a strong defensive effort, allowing only two shots on goal for the second consecutive match.
“I think they did really well,” head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said about the back line. “There’s a lot of caring for each other out there, they really have each other’s back, a lot of covering for each other.”
The Bulls took control of the game early on as Passariello was able to finish on a great through ball by Sarah Miller for her second goal of the season.
“She (UNF goalkeeper) took my shins out. I just tried to slide it past her and use my shin pads,” Passariello said.
The tally accounted for USF’s eighth first-half goal this year while the Bulls’ defense has yet to allow a first-half goal this season.
USF outshot UNF 15-8 on the night and Christiane Endler made two saves to pick up her third shutout of the season.
The Bulls will hit the road to take on South Carolina Thursday, Sept. 12 before a huge match-up against the Florida Gators 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 back at Corbett Stadium.
