Aristil Advances to Finals at NCAA Championships
DES MOINES, Iowa - After finishing fifth at the NCAA Championships a year ago, David Aristil will again line up in the finals of the 400-meter hurdles at the national meet after qualifying sixth on Wednesday. Running in the third heat, Aristil clocked a 50.10, the third-fastest time of his career, to finish third.
Aristil entered the national meet on quite a run, having won the BIG EAST Championship in a personal-best 50.03, then claiming the top spot at the NCAA East Preliminary meet with the second-fastest time of his career, a 50.09. He will look to improve on his finish from last year on Friday at 7:45 p.m. EST.
Also in action tonight was Jared Thomas in the discus. Thomas placed 12th, improving seven spots from last season, with a mark of 177-4. Under the new set of standards, Thomas earned second-team All-America honors by finishing in the second grouping of eight.
The Bulls will continue competition at the NCAA Championships on Thursday with Nicole Rozario in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase. The event is scheduled to run at 8:30 p.m. EST and can be viewed live at ncaa.com.
