Thomas and Wise Advance to NCAA T&F Finals
JACKSONVILLE – Senior Jared Thomas and junior Neaman Wise both punched their tickets to the finals of the  2012 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday by finishing in the top 12 at the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds on the University of North Florida campus.

Four other Bulls also moved on to the next round as David Aristil, Pascal Orelus, Reshaw Exilien and Shaniel Chambers all finished in the top 24 of their preliminary rounds to move on to the NCAA quarterfinals in their respective events.

Thomas finished second overall in the discus with a toss of 189-11 (57.90m) to move him on to the NCAA finals for the third-straight year. The senior has the third-best mark in the nation this year with his USF school record throw of 201-0.

Wise also earned a spot in the NCAA finals with his fourth-place finish in the long jump. Wise, who set the USF record at the Big East Championships earlier in May, posted a leap of 25-0.5 (7.36m) on his last attempt to vault him to fourth. It will be his first appearance at the national championships.

Aristil, a two-time All-American, finished fifth in the preliminaries of the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.86 to move on to the NCAA quarterfinals of the event, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. on May 25.

Also advancing out of the first rounds were a pair of Bulls in the 400m as junior Pascal Orelus and senior Reshaw Exilien finished 17th and 20th, respectively. Orelus posted his second-best time of the year with a 46.67 while Exilien clocked a 46.74. The 400m quarterfinals will be run at 6 p.m. on Friday.
