TAMPA- The USF Softball Team once gain was ranked in the Top 50 for NCAA Division I softball teams in terms of Grade Point Averages as recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
For the academic year of 2009-2010 the Bulls had a combined GPA of 3.273 good for 49th overall. Last year, the Bulls were in the top 10 and look to remain amongst the nation’s elite academic programs for the 2010-2011 year.
In addition, USF had seven athletes recognized as NFCA as Academic All-Americans (3.5 GPA or higher) with a pair of student athletes attaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
“Those young women that received the awards are to be commended. I don’t think we can overlook the fact that we also had 11 other athletes that had GPA’s between 3.0 and 3.49. That gave us 18 athletes above a 3.0 grade. Wow. That is a testament to assistant coach Heintz and the academic coordinator that helped her, “ said Head Coach Ken Eriksen.
In addition, the Bulls placed seven athletes on the 2009-10 BIG EAST All-Academic Team.
