Fresh off of receiving the 2012 Women's College World Series rings, the Univerisity of South Florida softball team is looking ahead to next season.
The Bulls released their 2013 spring schedule - one loaded with several talented teams appearing at the USF Softball Stadium. Thirty games will be played on campus, with the Bulls participating in 10 more just across the bridge in Clearwater, Fla.
Perennial powerhouses in Michigan, Tennessee and Florida will all play USF in Tampa during the month of February, with the Bulls adding Louisiana-Lafayette as one of their opponents during the NFCA Lead-off Classic in Clearwater.
The games between won't get much easier, as head coach Ken Eriksen said his goal with the schedule is to make the Bulls playoff-ready by the time the postseason rolls around.
"We set up our schedule to help continue our success in the postseasn," Eriksen said. "We want to see the best we can before conference, so when the playoffs come, we are prepared."
After breaking the season attendance record last year with more than 15,000 fans, the Bulls are looking for even more in 2013. Eriksen said the number of big games being played, with both NCAA Tournament teams and in-state rivalries, should lend to even bigger crowds this spring.
"This year, we'd like to top 20,000 fans," Eriksen said. "With this schedule and this team, I don't see any reason why we can't make that a reality."
