TAMPA - USF took No. 17 Kentucky to extra innings but the Bulls were unable to get back on the winning track Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats put together a four-run ninth inning on the way to a 6-3 victory at the USF Under Armour Invitational. Nicollete Levine homered for USF (6-10) in its seventh consecutive loss.

Levine tied things up at 1 in the bottom of the second when she drove the first home run of her collegiate career well over the wall in left field.

A Lauren Cumbess RBI single gave Kentucky (13-3) a 2-1 lead in the third before USF starter Lindsey Richardson and Sara Nevins retired 17 consecutive batters. The Bulls tied the game at 2 in the fourth on a double by Monica Santos.

A bases-loaded walk by Christian Stokes put Kentucky back ahead in the ninth and the Wildcats got three more runs on a fielder's choice and a throwing error to home by USF shortstop Kourtney Salvarola. Nevins (2-4) took the loss and was charged with only one earned run on one hit.

Lee Ann Spivey scored on an illegal pitch to get things going for USF in the ninth but Cumbess (3-1) retired the next three batters to end the threat.

The Bulls look to bounce back in game two of their doubleheader 5:10 p.m. Friday against Illinois back at USF softball stadium.
