TAMPA – Kourtney Salvarola continued her power surge with two homers in USF’s 8-2 victory at Villanova on Wednesday afternoon.
Salvarola collected five RBIs a game after homering three times in the Bulls’ 4-3 win over Rutgers on Sunday. The junior shortstop now leads the Big East with 10 homers and 28 RBIs heading into USF's doubleheader back at Villanova 11 a.m. Thursday.
Salvarola’s hot Wednesday was welcomed by a USF team that collected seven hits between four batters. D’Anna Devine, Kenshyra Jackson and Lee Ann Spivey each had a hit to help the Bulls (25-11, 3-1) win for the 19th time in their past 20 games.
USF all-time strikeout leader Sara Nevins (11-5) added 10 more to her total while allowing two earned runs on five hits in all seven innings. Nevins now has 658 career strikeouts as a Bull after taking over the top spot in the program record books Sunday at USF Softball Stadium.
