TAMPA – Sara Nevins continues to reel in the recognition for her amazing feats in 2013.
USF’s ace left-hander received national praise on Wednesday when she was named to the NFCA Division I All-America Third Team.
Nevins (26-9) picked up Big East Pitcher of the Year honors to start the postseason and went on to throw 22 2/3 scoreless innings to help the Bulls capture their first Big East tournament title. The junior was one of 25 finalists for the USA Softball Pitcher of the Year award and finished seventh in the country with a 1.20 earned run average.
Nevins became USF’s all-time strikeout leader during the regular season and now has 804 after fanning 275 batters in 89 innings. The Pinellas Park, Fla., native became eligible for All-America honors when she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Mideast Region First Team on May 16.
