TAMPA – USF fans will get to see head coach Ken Eriksen and Team USA in action Friday night at the World Cup of Softball.
The U.S. faces Australia at 7 p.m. on ESPN after defeating Canada, 7-0, in its tournament opener Thursday night. USF ace Sara Nevins started and earned the win after striking out six in five shutout innings. The left-hander gave up two hits and walked one batter in her impressive Team USA debut. USF shortstop Kourtney Salvarola also made her Team USA debut as a defensive replacement.
Junior National Team Earns Silver Medal
USF’s Erica Nunn and Lee Ann Spivey earned silver medals last week at the ISF Junior Women’s World Championship after the U.S. Softball Junior Women’s National Team lost 4-0 in the championship game against Japan.
Nunn went 2-0 in the tournament after logging in 8 2/3 shutout innings that included a complete game performance. The sophomore left-hander stuck out 17 batters and surrendered just two hits. Spivey went 2-for-4 in two games with two RBIs and a triple.
