Incoming Freshman Salvarola Rated Top 5 Recruit By ESPNU

Kourtney SalvarolaTAMPA - University of South Florida softball signee Kourtney Salvarola has been rated No. 5 in the ESPNU player rankings announced earlier this week.

"Kourtney Salvarola is a slick fielding-power hitting infielder that will add a tremendous dimension to the middle of our line-up," said head coach Ken Eriksen. "She has proven herself against some of the best competition in the country and she will be very exciting to watch in a Bulls' uniform."

Salvarola is currently at Broadneck High School in Maryland. In 2007, she blasted a Maryland state record 12 home runs while hitting .698 and driving in 41 runs. On the mound, she was 13-3, striking out 139 hitters. She led her team to the 4A state championship in 2009, allowing one run from the rubber and tallying four hits at the plate. She was perfect on the mound with a 12-0 record and a 0.90 ERA in 2009. At the plate, she batted .619 with seven home runs, six triples and 28 RBI.
