TAMPA - The Bulls took a test run at the site of the Big East Championship and had some success along the way in New York City on Saturday morning.
Nicole Rozario led the USF women's cross country team with a second-place finish in the Br. Doyle/Iona College Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park. The Bulls as a whole finished in eighth place, while the USF men's team took 13th on the same course they'll run in at conference on Saturday, Oct. 27.
"Overall I'm happy that we got a chance to preview the Big East course. Now we know what to expect and how much work we need to do to improve times on the hills," coach Dena Reif said.
Rozario followed up her second-place performance at last week's USF Invitational by running the USF women's first 6k of the season in 22:17.79.
Argishti Gazari was the top USF men's finisher for the second straight week after the freshman placed 70th with a time of 27:11.08 in the Bulls' second 8k of the season.
"We're still working on pacing with them and racing that distance of a race," Reif said.
The Bulls are back in action Friday, Sept. 28 in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
