Bulls Pick Up Five Wins in Tallahassee, Bradenton

TAMPA (Nov. 5, 2016)-- The USF women's tennis team continued competition at the Seminole Showdown and Dick Vitale Invitational, picking up five wins in singles play on the day.

In Bradenton at the Dick Vitale Invitational, Brooke Lashway, Hailey Grillo and Olga Martinez all competed in singles consolation. Martinez advanced to the championship match of the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 6-1 win over FGCU's Bridget Forster and a 2-6, 6-1, 10-3 win over Catalina Vives. In the consolation semis, Martinez's opponent retired due to injury to allow her to move on to the championship.

Lashway fell, 6-3, 6-4, to TCU's Olaya Garrido-Rivas and Grillo fell to Princeton's Katrine Steffensen, 6-0, 6-1.

In Tallahassee, Vera Bessonova, Vanja Klaric and Nicole Dzenga continued competition at the Seminole Showdown. Klaric, in the main draw, fell to OU's Selim, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. In consolation, Bessonova picked up a straight set win over Wisconsin's Kirsch, while Dzenga picked up a 7-5, 6-3 win over Wisconsin's Zordani. 

Competition concludes at both tournament sites on Sunday, Nov. 6.
