USF to Open AAC Tournament Against Temple
TAMPA (April 18, 2017) – The USF women’s tennis team (10-10) was seeded No. 7 in the conference, positioning them to see No. 10 seed Temple (11-12) to open the American conference tournament Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The Bulls closed out their regular-season play with an exciting win over UCF in a 5-1 War on I-4 victory. Juliana Cardoso leads the team in singles, 10-7, and Cardoso and Olga Martinez have worked eight doubles wins together this season.
The American Athletic Conference tournament will take place at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla.
Scouting the Opponent:
The Bulls and the Owls met earlier this season in Tampa where USF triumphed, 6-1. Temple is 1-3 in the American with losses to Tulsa and Cincinnati, and a 4-3 win over UConn.
Temple is led in singles by Alina Abdurakhimova (14-7) and Yana Khon (15-8). In doubles Mariana Bedon and Dina Karina lead the owls with an 8-3 mark.
Based on the results of Wednesday’s match, the Bulls could move on to face No. 2 seed Tulane at 3 p.m. Thursday.
