TAMPA (April 10, 2017) – The No. 26 USF men’s tennis team (14-8) topped off their regular season with a 4-0 sweep of No. 34 Memphis (14-7) Monday afternoon.
After dropping his first set, 6-1, No. 112 Peter Bertran (Santiago, Dominican Republic) came back to defeat Chris Patzanovsky 6-3, 6-0 to seal the 4-0 match in favor of the Bulls.
In singles, sophomore Alberto Barroso-Campos (Montijo, Spain) and senior Vadym Kalyuzhnyy (Donetsk, Ukraine) posted straight-set wins to put the Bulls within one of clinching the match. Barroso-Campos finished first with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on three followed by Kalyuzhnyy’s 6-4, 6-3 win on five.
The Bulls will set their sights on another American Athletic Conference Championship title as they head to the USTA National Campus Thursday.
