Bulls Take 11th In Final Regular Season Tournament

TAMPA- The University of South Florida women’s golf team wrapped up their 2010 regular season by taking 11th place at the Gator Women’s Golf Invitational.

The Bulls 305 in the final round to finish with a 76-over 916 for the tournament to claim 11th in the 15-team field.

The Gator Invitational was the final regular season tune-up before next weekend’s BIG EAST Golf Championships, which USF will host at Innisbrooke Resort April 18-20 in Clearwater, Fla.

The Bulls were led by freshman Shena Yang, who continues her successful first collegiate season as she finished in a tie for 23rd individually as she shot a final round 74 to finish 13-over for the tournament.

Senior Reachel Edwards also shot a final round 74 to finish 40th individually at 21-over for the tournament.

Michigan State took the overall team title by firing an 868 for the tournament, and Chattanooga’s Emma da Groot carded a final round 68 to win the tournament in a playoff over Michigan State’s Laura Kueny.

The Gator Women’s Golf Invitational finishes up a successful 2010 regular season for the Bulls as the won a team title at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invite, a second place finish at the Pat Bradley Invite and also took third at the USF Invitational.

Freshman Shena Yang has finished in the top-25 of eight of the nine tournaments this season including an individual title in the FIU Pat Bradley Invite (-8, 68-68-72—208). Yang has earned four top-10 finishes, and three top-five finishes on the year.
