The American Athletic Conference announced kickoff times for conference teams for the first three weeks of the season and several weeknight primetime games on Tuesday. USF plays two of its first three games of 2017 on the road, including the Bulls' conference opener at UConn on Sat., Sept. 9, which was announced as a noon kick on ESPNews.
Coming off a school-record 11-2 campaign and No. 19 ranking in the final 2016 polls, USF opens the 2017 season at San Jose State on Sat., Aug. 26 in a 7:30 p.m. (ET) kickoff. That game will be televised by CBS Sports Network and will be the first of four announced primetime television appearances for the Bulls in 2017.
USF will play weekday night games vs. Illinois (Fri., Sept. 15), Temple (Thur., Sept. 21) and Tulsa (Thur., Nov. 16) in Raymond James Stadium. Those three games all will be broadcast on ESPN. The Illinois game has been set for a 7 p.m. kickoff, while the Temple and Tulsa contests will kick at either 7:30 or 8 p.m., with the time expected to be announced prior to the start of the season. Kickoff times for the remainder of the Bulls' 2017 schedule are expected to be announced on the conference's normal 12-day selection process during the season.
The Bulls also have an announced national television appearance for the War On I-4 clash at UCF on Fri., Nov. 24. That game will air on ABC or an ESPN network, with the kickoff time yet to be announced, and gives USF at least four games to date designated for ABC or ESPN national telecasts in 2017.
The USF football team appears in numerous preseason Top 25 rankings and has been picked by several publications as the favorite to win the American Conference. The Bulls return American Conference Offensive Player of the Year Quinton Flowers (Miami, Fla.) at quarterback and 16 starters from a bowl game victory over South Carolina.
USF will not face West Division foes Memphis, Navy or SMU in 2017 or 2018. USF shares the American East Division with Cincinnati, East Carolina, Temple, UConn and UCF.
USF hosts three games against 2016 bowl participants who won at least nine games last year as Houston, Temple and Tulsa all come to Raymond James Stadium.

USF set nearly 40 team and individual records in 2016, including team records for total yards (6,650), rushing yards (3,714), touchdowns (77) and scoring (569).
