TAMPA, Fla. – University of South Florida freshman outfielder Ryan Lockwood has been selected to the BIG EAST Baseball Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced on April 7.
Lockwood, who is currently on a 13-game hitting streak, batted .444 this week with five doubles, collecting five RBI and slugging .722. In his 8-for-18 week, he scored six runs and tallied 13 total bases while drawing four walks. He also had one stolen base and was perfect in the field, making 11 put outs.
The first-year player for USF leads the team this season with his .375 average, 45 hits, 12 doubles, one triple, 25 RBI, 27 runs scored and five stolen bases.
In his 13-game hitting streak, which began March 19 against Oklahoma, he has batted .442 with 23 hits, including eight doubles and three triples. Lockwood has scored 10 runs and collected 12 RBI while drawing six walks and being hit by two pitches. He has a trio of three-hit outings, as well as four two-hit games during that stretch. The Tampa native has made 30 putouts in the field, including three diving catches, with no errors in those 13 outings.
See Lockwood and the Bulls in action this weekend when the Louisville Cardinals come to town. The first pitch of the three-game BIG EAST series is Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. Saturday game and the weekend finale at 1 p.m. Sunday.
